Torrgreen
Torrgreen develops and commercialises a patented, modular torrefaction system that converts agricultural and forestry residues into high-quality, energy-dense torrpellets at the point of origin. This unlocks the renewable carbon stored in biomass residues and enables sister company Torrgas to put it to work. Torrgas develops a gasification platform that converts torrpellets into clean bio-syngas, bio-methanol, premium biochar, and bio-CO₂. Together, the two technologies form a carbon-negative, end-to-end value chain, purpose-built for hard-to-abate sectors such as shipping, aviation, and green chemistry.
The Torrgreen technology is at TRL 7 and a TRL-8 demonstration plant is planned to be being realised in 2027 at a partner venue in the Netherlands, supported by a JTF grant.
