Steeper Energy has developed a proprietary version of hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) called Hydrofaction® that has been proven through a pilot phase and is in the process of being proven in a demonstration-scale facility. Steeper’s technology confirms an economic pathway for the production of biofuels such as marine bunker fuel, heating oil, renewable diesel, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from a wide range of biowaste feedstocks. Our focus has been on lignocellulosic (woody biomass) materials, but other streams include biogenic portions of urban waste, animal and agricultural wastes among others. Steeper holds over 200 patents in 25 patent families related to its technology and is advancing towards the commercialization of its technology in prospective plant projects around the world.
