“Many great questions being asked, fantastic collaboration opportunities arising, and new connections being made. A multi-day event with about 2000 people in attendance, filled with brilliant presentations, great posters and naturally a lot of networking opportunities.

Big conferences like that allow a broader view into the world of biomass side-streams use in industry, beyond subconsciously curated bubbles that we often work in – it’s great to see opportunities for collaboration among less obvious pairings of entities.

Secondly, from an early-career researcher perspective it is very important to learn how not to get lost in such a busy environment – write down immediate thoughts and comments during presentations, follow up with the presenters, and plan which sessions to attend ahead.

And finally – it’s absolutely great to see the amount of people that are truly dedicated to working towards a more circular, green economy from scientific, industrial and legislative perspective.
