The Sector Board Chemistry & Materials provides strategic direction for the Dutch chemistry and materials ecosystem under the national brand ChemistryNL. Appointed by the Dutch government as of 1 January 2026, the Board safeguards the sector’s innovation capacity and long‑term competitiveness. Its focus lies on future economic opportunities in advanced materials and the defossilization of the chemical industry, including plastics recycling, bio‑based materials and the use of CO₂ as feedstock.

Working closely with industry leaders, startups, scale‑ups, universities, research institutes and government, the Sector Board translates societal and industrial challenges into clear priorities and coordinated action. It develops strategic agendas, aligns public and private stakeholders, and strengthens an attractive investment climate for green chemistry and high‑tech and advanced materials.

For international partners, the Sector Board serves as a key entry point to the Dutch chemistry and materials ecosystem and its mission‑driven innovation agenda.
