Innovations in Lignocellulosic Biomass Value Chains for Advanced Biofuels
EU Brazil Cooperation

Under the overarching goals of the EU Green Deal, the EU climate and energy policy sets the context for the deployment of renewable fuels and bioenergy until 2030 and beyond. With the implementation of the Fit for 55 package, the European Commission aims to introduce targets for advanced biofuels in transports in the revised REDII, and puts forward legislative proposals to promote renewable fuels in aviation and maritime transports.

This event will present innovations and solutions in the deployment of sustainable lignocellulosic biomass value chains for advanced biofuels, resulting from five years of research and scientific cooperation between the European project BECOOL and the Brazilian project BioValue.

Topics will include:

  • feedstock diversification options and food/biofuels integrated farming systems including cereals and lignocellulosic crops;
  • optimized logistic concepts to increase the efficiency of biomass supply chain  ;
  • innovation insights for gasification, pyrolysis and fermentation of lignocellulosic feedstock for advanced biofuels;
  • economic, environmental and social assessments of advanced biofuels value chains;

A panel with experts from industry research and policy will discuss about lignocellulosic value chains serving the multiple objectives of the EU Green Deal and in the current energy context.
